The fan’s shape and size is inspired by fans made for world renowned Bayanihan Dance Company, who used an ornate version for the southern Filipino traditional dances. The contrasting rib accents the high gloss finish of the painted fan.
The wood used is hand shaped, cut and painted with a multi coat piano finish, painstakingly layered over hours of buffing and drying.
To secure the fan is a rivet or “rosetta” of anti tarnished brass. Some variations of the Nyora would have a hoop in gold brass or silver rhodium. The hoop set is adorned with a matching leather hand loop complemented by quartz and coral.
